Why Prop Movie FX

For creators who want their character to feel more cinematic

Most props for cosplay fall apart in the details: the weapon looks cheap, the mask does not match the mood, the blood looks fake. Our props are selected to help the look feel styled, character-specific, and believable—not like a random accessory thrown in at the end.

We’re always looking for new props for cosplay and character details to add to our collection. If there’s a specific cosplay prop your look is missing, let us know!

While we can’t guarantee we’ll source a specific piece in time for your next convention, shoot, or event, your request helps us understand what cosplayers are actually hunting for—and what we should add next.

Cosplay Prop FAQs

Frequently asked questions for cosplayers buying convention-ready props.

1. Will these props pass convention weapons check?

Most conventions require props to be free of metal, sharp edges, and any functional firing or cutting mechanism — our foam, rubber, and resin pieces are built with that in mind. Policies still vary by event, so we always recommend checking your specific convention’s weapons policy before you travel.

2. Are these exact replicas of the characters they’re based on?

Our pieces are inspired by popular characters and designs rather than officially licensed replicas, so there may be small differences in detail or proportion from the original. We aim to capture the overall look and feel so they read well in photos and on the convention floor.

3. How long will it take to get my order before my convention?

In-stock items typically ship within a few business days of your order. We recommend ordering at least 2–3 weeks ahead of your event to account for processing and shipping time, especially during busy con seasons.

4. Will the prop be lightweight enough to wear or carry all day at a convention?

Yes — our props are made from foam, EVA, or lightweight resin specifically so they’re comfortable to hold or wear through a full day of photos and walking the show floor.

5. Do prop weapons need to have an orange tip or other markings?

Some venues and local laws require visible markings (like an orange barrel tip) on toy or prop firearms, especially for realistic gun replicas. Check the product listing for markings included, and confirm your convention’s and city’s specific requirements beforehand.

6. Can I find out the exact dimensions before I buy?

Yes — each product listing includes measurements so you can check fit, scale, and proportion before ordering. If you don’t see the dimension you need, reach out and we’ll confirm it for you.

7. Will my prop survive travel to an out-of-town convention?

Our props are built to hold up to normal handling and travel, and larger or more delicate items ship with reinforced packaging around blades, barrels, and other vulnerable areas. With reasonable care, they can be reused across multiple conventions.

8. What if my prop gets damaged after a convention?

Foam and resin props can sometimes need minor touch-ups after heavy use. Reach out with photos of the damage and we’re happy to advise on simple repairs or replacement parts where available.

9. Do you ship internationally in time for conventions outside the US?

Yes, we ship internationally, but please build in extra time for customs processing and longer transit beyond standard delivery estimates. Let us know your event date if timing is tight and we can advise on the safest order window.

10. Are your props okay to bring on a plane to a convention?

Most airlines treat realistic-looking prop weapons as checked-baggage-only items, even though they’re non-functional, so we recommend never packing them in a carry-on. Check with your specific airline ahead of travel, since policies can vary.

11. Can I return or exchange a prop if it doesn’t work for my costume?

Yes — unused items in original condition can typically be returned within our standard return window. Check our returns page for specific timeframes and any exclusions.

12. Do your masks and helmets fit different head sizes?

Most masks and helmets are designed to fit a standard adult head size with adjustable straps where applicable. Check the product description for sizing details or any adjustability features before ordering.

13. Can these props be painted or customized after I buy them?

Yes — many cosplayers personalize their props with additional paint, weathering, or small modifications after purchase. Just be aware that heavy modification could affect eligibility for returns, so check our return policy first if you’re unsure.

14. Do you sell matching sets, like a weapon plus armor or accessories?

We carry a range of complementary pieces across categories like weapons, masks, and accessories, so you can often build a full look from our catalog. Browse by collection or reach out if you need help finding pieces that pair well together.

15. How do I know which size or style is right for my costume?

Product listings include sizing, materials, and style details to help you choose the right piece for your character. If you’re still unsure, send us a reference image and we’re happy to point you toward the best match in our catalog.
